14 Playoff Seeds Are Still Undecided. Tomorrow Decides Everything.
The regular season ends April 12 and 14 of the 20 postseason teams still don't know what seed they'll be. That's the most chaotic final day in years.
In the West, OKC and San Antonio have locked up the 1 and 2 seeds. But the 3-4-5 race between Denver (52-29), the Lakers (51-29), and the Rockets (51-29) comes down to the final games. The Lakers' situation is especially precarious — Luka Doncic has a hamstring strain, Austin Reaves has an oblique issue, and they've dropped three straight since both got hurt against OKC on April 2.
In the East, the Knicks are technically alive for the 2-seed after beating Boston, holding the tiebreaker, but need to win out and have the Celtics lose out. More realistically, the 6-through-10 seeds in the East are a mess — Hawks, Raptors, 76ers (minus Embiid), Hornets, Magic, and Heat are all within a few games of each other. The Play-In Tournament starts April 14 and the first round tips off April 18.
