Alex Sarr Likely Done for the Season With Toe Injury
Alex Sarr's rookie season is over. The Wizards announced that the No. 2 overall pick will miss the team's final three games with capsulitis in his left big toe — an injury that's kept him out for the last six games already.
In 48 games this season, Sarr averaged 16.3 points and 7.4 rebounds while flashing the kind of two-way potential that made him a top pick. The 7-footer showed he can be a legitimate building block in Washington, but injuries limited him to fewer games than the Wizards hoped for.
The silver lining: this gives Sarr a full offseason to heal and build on what was a promising but interrupted first year. Washington's rebuild is a long game, and Sarr's development is the most important piece of it. They'll want him at 100% for Year 2.
