Alex Sarr is likely done for the season.

Alex Sarr's rookie season is effectively over. The No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 draft has capsulitis in his left big toe and has already missed six straight games. Wizards coach Brian Keefe said it's "probably unlikely" Sarr returns with just three games remaining.

In 48 games, Sarr averaged 16.3 points and 7.4 rebounds for the league-worst Wizards (17-62). He showed flashes of his two-way potential — the 7-footer can switch on defense and has expanded his offensive game — but the season was marred by a string of short-term injuries that limited him to just over half the games.

Washington has games left against Miami and Cleveland before the season mercifully ends. The Wizards will head into the offseason with a likely top-3 pick and Sarr as a foundational piece. A healthy offseason and a full training camp could make Year 2 a breakout.
