Cooper Flagg Drops 51 Points — Youngest Player in NBA History to Score 50+
Cooper Flagg just did something no teenager has ever done in the NBA. The 19-year-old Mavericks rookie dropped 51 points against the Orlando Magic on April 3rd — going 19-for-30 from the field and hitting all 7 of his free throws — to become the youngest player in league history to score 50+ in a game. He was 19 years and 103 days old. The previous youngest player to hit that mark? Nobody. No teenager had ever done it.
And he wasn't done. Two days later, Flagg put up 45 points, 8 rebounds, and 9 assists in a 134-128 win over the Lakers. That's 96 points in two games. At 19.
The Rookie of the Year race isn't a race anymore. Flagg is averaging insane numbers down the stretch and playing with the kind of confidence that usually takes years to develop. Dallas may have traded Luka Doncic to the Lakers, but they might have gotten the better end of the deal in the long run. Flagg isn't the future — he's the right now.
