Cooper Flagg dropped 96 points in two games — 51 vs.
Cooper Flagg just did something only Wilt Chamberlain has done. The 19-year-old Mavericks forward erupted for 96 points over a two-game stretch — 51 against the Orlando Magic on Friday, followed by 45 against the Lakers on Sunday with a near triple-double.
According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Flagg and Chamberlain are the only rookies in NBA history to score 96 or more points in any two-game span. He's also the first rookie since Allen Iverson — and the only teenager ever — to average at least 45 points, five rebounds, and five assists over a two-game stretch. Walt Bellamy in 1962 was the last rookie to drop 45+ in consecutive games.
The performance has flipped the Rookie of the Year race on its head. Flagg is now the betting favorite at -250, leapfrogging Charlotte's Kon Knueppel (+180) after what ESPN called a "statement" weekend. Dallas may be out of playoff contention, but Flagg is making sure everyone remembers the name.
