Steph Curry Ruled Out for Warriors-Lakers — Zero Curry vs. LeBron Matchups This Season

For the first time since Stephen Curry's rookie year, Curry and LeBron James will not face each other in the regular season. The Warriors announced Thursday that Curry is ruled out for Golden State's home finale against the Lakers at Chase Center with continued knee management.

Curry returned from a 27-game absence just last week and scored 29 points in 26 minutes against the Rockets, but Steve Kerr has been carefully managing his workload ahead of next week's play-in tournament. Kerr said Curry would sit one of the team's final two games — Thursday vs. the Lakers or Friday vs. the Kings — and the Warriors chose to rest him against LA.

The matchup between two of the greatest players ever has been a fixture of the NBA calendar for over a decade. They met in four consecutive NBA Finals from 2015-2018 and teamed up for Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Now with both in their late 30s and the Warriors clinging to a play-in spot, there's a real question of how many more regular-season meetings we'll get. Curry is expected to suit up Friday against Sacramento as Golden State prepares for what could be a win-or-go-home play-in game.
