Embiid is out of the hospital after emergency appendicitis surgery.

Joel Embiid has been discharged from the hospital after undergoing emergency surgery for appendicitis. There's no timeline for his return, and the 76ers are heading into the Play-In Tournament without their franchise player.

This is the latest chapter in what's been a cursed season for Embiid and Philadelphia. Between knee issues, load management controversies, and now emergency surgery, the Sixers have been without their MVP-caliber center for huge stretches. Philly's playoff hopes were already thin — now they're basically nonexistent.

The Play-In starts Tuesday on Prime Video. Without Embiid, the Sixers are likely looking at a quick exit unless Tyrese Maxey can carry the load alone. Philadelphia's front office will have some serious questions to answer this offseason.
