Joel Embiid Discharged After Emergency Appendix Surgery
Joel Embiid has been discharged from a Houston hospital just one day after emergency surgery for appendicitis. The Sixers say he's heading back to Philadelphia, but there's no set timeline for his return to the court. Because of course there isn't.
This is the most Joel Embiid thing that could possibly happen. The man has already missed more games than he's played this season. His body has betrayed him at every turn — knees, plantar fascia, and now his appendix decided to explode for good measure. Tim MacMahon called him "the unluckiest superstar of this generation," and honestly, it's hard to argue.
Kendrick Perkins said what everyone's thinking: it's just sad we can't see Embiid at his best this postseason. Again. Philadelphia's season was already on life support, and this is the final nail. The 76ers invested everything in building around Embiid, and his body simply won't cooperate. At some point, the basketball gods need to give this man a break.
