Flagg Drops 45 on LeBron — Back-to-Back 40-Point Games as a Rookie
Cooper Flagg isn't slowing down — he's speeding up.
Two days after dropping 51 points on the Magic (the most ever by an NBA teenager), the Mavericks rookie followed it up with 45 points, 9 assists, and 8 rebounds in a 134-128 win over the Lakers on Sunday night. He's the first rookie with back-to-back 40-point games since Allen Iverson in 1996-97. His 96 combined points in two games? Most by a rookie since Wilt Chamberlain.
LeBron James had 30 and 15 assists in the loss and was seen hyping up Flagg after the game. With Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves both done for the regular season, this was supposed to be a cakewalk for the Lakers. Instead, Flagg turned it into his coronation. He's now the slight ROY favorite at -250, with Knueppel trailing at +180. Four 40-point games as a teenager — one more than LeBron ever had. The kid from Maine is rewriting the record books.
