Memphis hit 29 three-pointers — tying the NBA single-game record — on 49.

The Memphis Grizzlies made 29 three-pointers on Monday night — tying the NBA single-game record shared by the Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics — and still lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers 142-126. Nine different Grizzlies hit at least one three, shooting 49.2% from beyond the arc on 59 attempts.

It was the kind of stat line that should win you any game in NBA history. But Cleveland was simply better everywhere else, as the Cavaliers hit 50 wins for the second consecutive season and continue to look like legitimate contenders in the East. The Cavs' balanced attack overwhelmed Memphis despite the historic shooting barrage.

For the Grizzlies, it's the most bittersweet record in franchise history. Memphis has been one of the league's most exciting teams this season, but moments like this — where even perfection from three isn't enough — highlight the gap between being fun and being a real threat in the playoffs.
