LeBron hit 12,000 career assists Friday night
LeBron James added another line to the most absurd résumé in basketball history on Friday night. With his second assist of the first quarter against the Phoenix Suns, James became just the fourth player in NBA history to record 12,000 career assists. He caught a defensive rebound and fired a chest pass to Deandre Ayton, who finished at the rim. Just like that — milestone number 847 of LeBron's career.
The company he's keeping is exclusive: John Stockton (15,806), Chris Paul (12,552), and Jason Kidd (12,091). That's it. Nobody else in the history of the sport has done this. And LeBron is the only one on that list who's also the all-time leading scorer.
He's 41. He's in year 23. And he's still doing things that make you stop and check the record books. The Lakers need him healthy for a postseason push, and right now, he looks like he's got plenty left in the tank.
