Luka flew to Spain to get an injection in his hamstring.
Luka Doncic is in Spain getting a specialized injection in his left hamstring, and the Lakers are holding their breath.
The Grade 2 hamstring strain — suffered during a blowout loss to OKC — ended Luka's regular season immediately. The Lakers ruled him out indefinitely, but rather than rehabbing in LA, Doncic flew to Europe for treatment that the Lakers' medical staff believes could accelerate his recovery. Some physicians estimate a 3-4 week return timeline, which would put him back on the court somewhere in the first round of the playoffs.
The timing couldn't be worse. Austin Reaves is also out for the regular season with a Grade 2 oblique strain, leaving LeBron to carry the load alone. The Lakers are still fighting for seeding in a chaotic Western Conference — and they might have to start the playoffs without their two best perimeter players. If Luka can't make it back by mid-to-late April, this could be a very short postseason for LA.
