Luka flew to Spain for specialized hamstring injections you can't get in the US.
Luka Doncic has flown to Spain to receive specialized hamstring injections that aren't available in the United States. The Lakers star suffered a Grade 2 hamstring strain during LA's 134-96 blowout loss to OKC on April 2, and the team is exploring every option to get him back for the playoffs.
The treatment involves injections designed to promote accelerated healing in the damaged hamstring tissue. Typical recovery for a Grade 2 strain is 4-6 weeks, but the specialized European treatment could shorten that to 3-4 weeks — potentially getting Luka back for the first round, which begins April 18.
The Lakers desperately need him. Without Luka, LA is fighting just to hold onto the 4-5 seed range in the West. LeBron James has been carrying the load — he just dropped 26/11/8 against the Warriors — but at 41, asking him to shoulder a full playoff run without Doncic is asking too much.
