Luka Flies to Spain for Experimental Hamstring Treatment
Luka Doncic is in Spain right now getting stem cell injections in his torn hamstring. Not a vacation — a Hail Mary. The Lakers star suffered a Grade 2 left hamstring strain against OKC on April 2nd, and the standard recovery window of 4-6 weeks would knock him out through the first round of the playoffs.
So Luka went overseas for treatments that are less restricted in Europe: a combination of stem cells, platelet-rich plasma therapy, and advanced regenerative techniques that could potentially cut the timeline in half. His agent Bill Duffy confirmed Luka is motivated to return during the playoffs.
This is the kind of thing that separates stars from superstars. The Lakers' entire playoff hopes hinge on whether experimental medicine in Spain can do what rest and rehab in LA can't. No pressure.
