Are the 64-Win Thunder an All-Time Great Team? The NBA Can't Decide

Matt Moore put into words what a lot of NBA fans have been feeling but couldn't articulate: the Oklahoma City Thunder are, by every objective measure, an all-time great team. 64 wins. Elite point differential. The best defense in the league that also has offensive firepower. The likely MVP in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Insane depth. Great coaching. Championship culture. And yet... they don't FEEL like it.

The thread on r/nba exploded with over 1,100 comments trying to figure out why. Some pointed to the lack of a signature postseason moment — OKC hasn't won it all yet, and great regular seasons mean nothing without a ring (just ask the 73-win Warriors). Others noted that SGA's game, while devastatingly effective, doesn't produce the jaw-dropping highlights that make you say "I'm watching history." He's not dunking on people or hitting logo threes. He's just... methodically destroying you.

Maybe it's a small market thing. Maybe it's because their best player plays like an accountant who happens to be an elite athlete. Maybe we just need to see them do it in the playoffs. But the numbers say this Thunder team belongs in the conversation with the greatest teams ever assembled. The vibes just haven't caught up yet.
