OKC Thunder Are the First Team to Be a #1 Seed Three Straight Seasons Since the Warriors Dynasty
The Oklahoma City Thunder have clinched the #1 seed in the Western Conference for the third consecutive season — a feat not accomplished since the Golden State Warriors did it from 2014-15 through 2016-17. That Warriors run included a 73-win season and two Finals appearances. OKC is writing its own dynasty chapter.
With a 128-110 demolition of the Clippers on Tuesday, the Thunder locked up the best record in the West and are just one win away from securing home-court advantage throughout the entire postseason. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Chet Holmgren, and Jalen Williams have formed one of the most dominant trios in the league, and the depth behind them is ridiculous.
But here is the thing Thunder fans do not want to hear: the Warriors went 73-9 and lost in the Finals. Regular-season dominance is only worth something if you finish the job in June. OKC has been eliminated in the second round each of the past two seasons. This year, no more excuses.
