East top 4 is locked: Pistons (1), Celtics (2), Knicks (3), Cavs (4)
The Detroit Pistons are the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference. Read that sentence again.
Two years ago, the Pistons had the worst record in the NBA. Now they have home-court advantage throughout the entire Eastern Conference playoffs — something they haven't had since 2007, the tail end of the Billups-Wallace-Hamilton era. Detroit clinched the top spot with a blowout win over Philadelphia on April 4th, and they've spent the final week tuning up for what comes next.
This is one of the fastest rebuilds in modern NBA history. The Pistons made the playoffs last year for the first time in six years, and now they have consecutive postseason appearances for the first time since 2008-09. They'll face whoever survives the Play-In as the 8-seed, and they'll do it at home. The Little Caesars Arena crowd is about to be electric.
