Steph Curry Returns After 27 Games — Drops 29 in Heartbreaking Loss to Rockets

Steph Curry is back. After missing 27 games and two-plus months with a right knee injury, the Warriors' franchise cornerstone returned Sunday night at Chase Center — and immediately reminded everyone what he does.

Curry came off the bench and dropped 29 points on 11-for-21 shooting, going 5-for-10 from deep in 26 minutes. The crowd gave him a standing ovation when he checked in at the 4:54 mark of the first quarter. In a cool moment, younger brother Seth was on the court when Steph re-entered in the second quarter — the first time brothers played together in Warriors franchise history.

The ending was cruel. Down one with the final possession, Houston doubled Curry, forcing a contested three that missed. Warriors lose 117-116. But the return itself was electric — Coach Steve Kerr said the Warriors are "back in the mix" with Curry in the lineup. With the Play-In Tournament starting Tuesday, the timing couldn't be better.
