Thunder Clinch #1 Overall Seed for Third Straight Year
The Oklahoma City Thunder are the NBA's undisputed top dog — again. With Wednesday's 128-110 blowout of the Clippers, OKC clinched the No. 1 overall seed at 64-16, securing home court through the entire postseason.
Chet Holmgren was the star of the night, pouring in 30 points on 10-of-13 shooting with 14 rebounds and 5 assists. The 7-footer continues to look like the perfect running mate for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in what's become the league's most dominant duo.
What makes this historic: the Thunder are now just the sixth franchise to hold the top seed three consecutive years, joining the Larry Bird Celtics, Showtime Lakers, Michael Jordan Bulls, Kobe Bryant Lakers, and Steph Curry Warriors. Last year they finished 68-14 and won the title. They're one win from back-to-back 65-win seasons — something no Thunder team has ever done.
