TL;DR

Paige Bueckers and Caitlin Clark each scored 20 in their first professional matchup Friday. Bueckers did it on 80% shooting. Clark went 2-of-9 from three with five turnovers. Dallas won by three.

For the first time as professionals, Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers shared a WNBA floor. The final stat line — 20 points each — made it look like a draw. The film said otherwise. Dallas 107, Indiana 104.

Bueckers, the No. 1 pick in 2025, shot 80 percent from the field. She got to her spots, converted at the rim, and looked like she'd been running this offense for three seasons. Clark, back after a groin injury that erased most of her 2025 campaign, went 2-of-9 from three and turned it over five times — a team high. That was the story of the night inside the box score.

The Fever nearly won anyway. Kelsey Mitchell poured in 30 points and Aliyah Boston added 23. The game featured four consecutive No. 1 WNBA draft picks on the same court — Boston (2023), Clark (2024), Bueckers (2025), and Dallas rookie Azzi Fudd (2026) — a convergence the league has never seen before. The Wings just edged it at the end.

Clark wasn't panicking. "I feel good," she said after the game. "Started off a little slow — I think just the anxiety of the first game — but overall I felt fast out there. I was literally a couple buckets away from putting together a really good game and helping us win." A mid-game appearance by the training staff drew concern (her 2025 groin injury ended her season), but Clark clarified it was her back, not her groin. "It can get out of line pretty quickly," she said.

The Fever and Wings play again. So will Clark and Bueckers. There's a whole season left to settle the efficiency question.
