Caitlin Clark is two games into her 2026 WNBA season and she's already in her bag. With 4.5 minutes left in Saturday's 107-104 opener against Dallas, Clark drove into the paint, made contact with Aziaha James, and watched the official point back toward center court — blocking foul on James. What happened next was caught on every camera in Gainbridge Fieldhouse: Clark tossed James the ball and told her, "Flopping all f---ing day."

Context matters here. James had already drawn two successful charges against Clark earlier in the same game — both official, both costing the Fever star fouls. When the third contact play went the other way, Clark snapped. The frustration makes sense. What made it interesting is that across the court, Paige Bueckers was mocking Clark's head-bobbing motion from the sideline — the same technique Clark uses to sell contact on drives to the rim.

Both things can be true at the same time. James flopped. Clark also draws fouls by reading contact early. The WNBA just raised its foul fines to 2.5x this season; officiating is the live wire everyone's touching. Clark went 12-of-14 from the foul line. She finished with 20 points, seven assists, and three offensive fouls — the last two numbers in direct tension with each other.

Postgame, she didn't back away from it. Asked about drives where she didn't get the call, Clark said: "I think especially if they're going to call it the way they're going to call it this year, I honestly could have probably got a couple more calls on a few of them." She's been fined before for publicly calling out officiating. She said it anyway.
