Arike Ogunbowale is in the clear.

The misdemeanor battery charge against Dallas Wings All-Star Arike Ogunbowale has been dropped, two months after she was arrested at 4:22 AM on March 5 at E11EVEN, a Miami nightclub. Ogunbowale and her Mist BC teammates — including Breanna Stewart — had been celebrating Mist's first Unrivaled championship hours earlier when, according to police, an altercation with security ended with Ogunbowale throwing a punch.

Prosecutors did not state publicly why the charge was dropped. Ogunbowale had pleaded not guilty in early April. ESPN, TMZ, and Yardbarker all confirmed the dismissal Wednesday night. The Wings released a brief statement saying they were "pleased the matter has been resolved."

The timing matters. Dallas opens its season Saturday in Indianapolis against Caitlin Clark and the Fever — one of the league's marquee TV slots of opening weekend. Ogunbowale, a 6'0" guard who averaged 21.6 points last season and was the Unrivaled championship MVP, can now walk into the season opener without a court date hanging over her. The Wings have one of the most-watched rosters in the W: Bueckers, Ogunbowale, and rookie Aziaha James.
