Caitlin Clark walks out with Morgan Wallen at Lucas Oil — and the timeline lights up
Caitlin Clark just spent her Saturday night doing two things: losing a basketball game and lighting the timeline on fire. After the Fever fell 107-104 to the Wings in Dallas in a season-opener that was supposed to be her big return, Clark got on a plane back to Indy and walked out with Morgan Wallen to start his Lucas Oil Stadium concert.
Sophie Cunningham, her teammate, was rolling video and posted the walkout to her Instagram stories. Wallen and Clark are buddies — he's been in the Caitlin Clark orbit for a couple years now. The crowd at Lucas Oil ate it up. WNBA Twitter did not.
Wallen has a controversial history that has trailed him for years — the 2021 racial slur recording, the Nashville bar chair incident, his refusal to stay quiet on his politics in country music. The optics of the league's biggest star walking out with him sparked an immediate backlash, with fans and a few media voices saying she's tone-deaf for cozying up to a polarizing figure right after a loss. Cunningham seems unbothered. Clark has not responded. The story is doing exactly what every Caitlin Clark story does in 2026 — eating up oxygen on every platform, including ones that don't usually care about basketball at all.
