Doncic and Jalen Williams BOTH ruled out for Lakers-Thunder Game 1
Both stars are sidelined for tonight's Western Conference Semifinals Game 1 in Oklahoma City. Luka Doncic and Jalen Williams were officially ruled out Monday — both with left hamstring injuries. Tip is 8:30 ET at Paycom Center.
Doncic hasn't played since a Grade 2 strain about a month ago that wiped out the end of his regular season and all of round 1. Williams hurt his hamstring in Game 2 against Phoenix and hasn't been back since. The Lakers somehow handled the Rockets 4-2 without Luka — they closed it out 98-78 in Game 6 — but this is a different beast. The Thunder swept LA 4-0 in the regular season, led the league in defensive rating, and got 33.8 PPG from Shai Gilgeous-Alexander through round 1. Without Doncic to bend the defense, the Lakers don't have a primary creator who can punish OKC's switches.
JJ Redick has been openly "concerned" about Luka's timeline. Team line is week-to-week, which means Game 3 in LA is the realistic target. If he can't get back for that, Vegas has the Thunder priced like a sweep is on the table — Lakers are around 14% on the moneyline tonight. The marquee matchup of the round was supposed to be Luka vs SGA. For Game 1, both teams play shorthanded instead.
