Jaylen Brown Fined $50K for Ripping Refs on Twitch After Game 7 Loss
The bill came in. The NBA fined Jaylen Brown $50,000 on Tuesday for publicly criticizing officials following the Celtics' Game 7 first-round exit to the Sixers. Brown went on his Twitch livestream Sunday and said officials "clearly had an agenda" against him, called out Joel Embiid for flopping, and added that "there's some referees that need to be investigated."
The context: Brown was whistled for 10 offensive fouls during the series — twice as many as any other player in the entire first round. Boston blew a 3-1 series lead and lost 109-100 in Game 7 at TD Garden. Embiid completed the comeback. Brown had time to be mad about it.
This is the second time this year the NBA has docked Brown for ripping officials publicly — he was fined $35,000 in January after a loss to the Spurs. The Celtics' season is over. The fines, apparently, are not.
