Kelsey Plum faces her former Aces in her Sparks home debut tonight

Kelsey Plum's first regular-season game in a Sparks jersey is against Las Vegas. Of course it is.

LA hosts the defending-champion Aces at Crypto.com Arena at 6 PM ET, and the storyline is one the W's marketing department couldn't have scripted better. Plum spent her first eight pro seasons in Vegas, won two championships with the Aces (2022, 2023), and signed with the Sparks in free agency last year. Tonight she gets her ex on her new home floor.

The Aces walk in 0-1 — and they walk in stinging. Phoenix dropped them 99-66 on Friday night on their own ring night, the largest opening-night loss by a reigning champion in WNBA history. A'ja Wilson dropped 31 in the loss; the rest of Vegas barely showed up. Plum's Sparks add up to a real test in this Western Conference: she joins Nneka Ogwumike (back in LA in free agency) and All-Star Dearica Hamby to form one of the league's better offensive cores on paper.
