Magic fire Jamahl Mosley after blowing 3-1 lead to Pistons

One day. That's how long Jamahl Mosley lasted after the Magic became just the 14th team in NBA history to blow a 3-1 series lead. Detroit took Game 7 in Orlando on Sunday. By Monday afternoon, Mosley was out.

Five seasons. 189-221 record. Three straight first-round exits. Magic president Jeff Weltman pointed to underachievement after a roster overhaul that was supposed to put Orlando in the East's top tier. The reporting was uglier than the on-court flame-out — Mosley's relationship with Paolo Banchero had reportedly cracked, and the front office didn't see a path back. "It's time for a new voice and fresh perspective," Weltman said.

Names already swirling: Tom Thibodeau (recently parted with the Knicks despite winning), and a few college coaches Orlando interviewed last cycle. The Magic have Banchero, Franz Wagner, and Jalen Suggs locked into max money. The next coach inherits a championship roster on paper — and the same brutal expectations that just got Mosley fired.
