Knicks take 2-0 lead but lose OG Anunoby to leg injury late
The Knicks won Game 2, 108-102. They might have lost a lot more. OG Anunoby — who'd just gone for 24 points on 9-of-17 shooting with five rebounds, four steals, and a team-high +12 in 37 minutes — pulled up cutting to the basket with about three minutes left, grabbed at the back of his right leg, and started limping back down the court. Mike Brown burned a timeout, sent Miles McBride in, and Anunoby never returned.
After the game Brown said he hadn't talked to the medical staff yet. "He was hopping," was about all he gave reporters. The Knicks listed him as having an apparent leg injury, with the right hamstring being the obvious concern based on where he kept reaching.
New York heads to Philly up 2-0 with Game 3 on Friday. Brunson dropped 26 to seal it, KAT had a 20-10-7 line, and the Sixers — still without Embiid — went almost six minutes without a basket down the stretch. The Knicks have the series control. They might not have their best two-way wing for the closeout.
