Paige Bueckers and the Wings Rout the Defending Champs in Preseason Finale

The Dallas Wings just put the league on notice. A 101-84 demolition of the defending champion Las Vegas Aces in Austin on Saturday capped a 2-0 preseason for new head coach Jose Fernandez's group. Paige Bueckers — entering her second WNBA season — looked every bit like the franchise cornerstone Dallas drafted her to be.

Earlier in the preseason, Bueckers dropped 20 first-half points on 8-of-12 shooting with four 3s. Against the Aces, the offense ran through her with the kind of fluidity Wings fans have not seen in years. The reunion with Azzi Fudd — Bueckers' UConn teammate and the No. 1 pick of the 2026 Draft — is already paying off. Fernandez said at his introductory presser, "Change is coming, and we're going to win." Two preseason games in, the change is real.

Dallas opens the season Saturday, May 9 at Indiana — Bueckers vs. Caitlin Clark, on ABC, in front of what will be a massive national audience. The Wings finished last in the West two years ago. They are not going to finish there again.
