Pistons go up 2-0 on the Cavs as Cade Cunningham takes over — Game 3 today
Detroit is the surprise of the East — and it's not really a surprise anymore. Pistons 107, Cavs 97 in Game 2. Cade Cunningham went for 25 points, 10 assists, 3 rebounds and 3 blocks, hit 8-of-8 from the line, and dropped 12 of his 25 in the fourth quarter to ice it. Tobias Harris added 21. Daniss Jenkins had 14 off the bench. The Pistons are up 2-0 on the No. 1 seed.
Donovan Mitchell scored 31 and Jarrett Allen had 22, but Cleveland's offense never looked right. James Harden — yes, he's been on the Cavs since the deadline — couldn't keep control late. The Cavs were tied for the league's best defensive rating in the regular season. Detroit shredded them anyway.
Game 3 is today at 3 PM ET on NBC and Peacock, back at Little Caesars Arena. No NBA team has ever come back from 0-3 down. Cleveland is one bad afternoon from being 0-3 with the basketball world calling for Kenny Atkinson's job and the Cade Cunningham-as-MVP discourse going nuclear. The Pistons are Detroit-loud, Detroit-confident, and one win from the conference finals.
