Pistons stun Cavs 111-101 in Game 1: Cade goes for 23 and 7, Detroit snaps 12-game skid
Cade Cunningham did what he was drafted to do. He went for 23 points and 7 assists, Tobias Harris added 20, and the Pistons stunned the Cavaliers 111-101 in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals. Detroit snapped a 12-game losing streak to Cleveland — and they did it in a series opener on the road in Cleveland's house.
The Cavs hadn't dropped a series-opening game at home all postseason. Donovan Mitchell got his (28 points), but Cleveland's bench was a -32 and the Pistons crushed them in second-chance points 18-6. Detroit hit 14 threes. Tobias Harris was 4-of-7 from deep — the kind of veteran shotmaking the Pistons traded for last summer specifically for these moments.
Game 2 is Thursday in Cleveland. The Cavs are now in a hole they haven't been in all year. The Pistons just have to hold serve in Detroit. This series got real, fast.
