Storm beat Sun 89-82 as Lexie Brown drains five threes
Two games into the 2026 season and the Connecticut Sun already look like they're in for a long summer. Seattle walked into Mohegan Sun Arena on Sunday and walked out with an 89-82 win, with Lexie Brown leading the way — five threes, 17 points, the kind of efficient veteran night that masks a rebuilding roster's growing pains. Flau'jae Johnson, in her sophomore year, added 16 to back her up.
The Sun came in raw. Friday's opener against the Liberty ended in a 31-point bloodbath as Breanna Stewart racked up 31 and 10. Then this. Two games, two losses, both by double digits at some point. Whatever the new-look front office had in mind for this rebuild, the floor is going to look exactly like this for a while.
Seattle isn't running away from anyone either — but the Storm are playing like a team that knows its rotation. Brown's threes were structural. Johnson's energy on both ends gave the Storm second-chance possessions when the Sun's offense bogged down. It's one game, but it's also the difference between a team that's been built and one that's still being built.
