Wembanyama records 12 blocks in Game 1 — most ever in an NBA playoff game

Victor Wembanyama just rewrote the NBA playoff record book. 12 blocks in Game 1 against the Timberwolves on Monday night. The previous record was 10, shared by Mark Eaton (1985), Hakeem Olajuwon (1990), and Andrew Bynum (2012). Wemby tied it after three quarters and broke it in the fourth.

The full line: 11 points, 15 rebounds, 12 blocks. He's the third player ever to get a triple-double with blocks in the playoffs since the league started tracking the stat in 1973-74. It was the fifth playoff game of his career.

And the Spurs still lost. Minnesota survived 104-102 after Julian Champagnie's game-winning three rimmed out. Anthony Edwards led the way for the Wolves. Chris Finch said postgame that "at least four" of Wembanyama's blocks should have been goaltending — a complaint the league office is presumably reviewing this morning. Game 2 is in Minnesota. The Wolves are up 1-0 against a team whose center is doing things no one has ever done.
