Wembanyama drops historic 39/15/5 to give Spurs 2-1 series lead over Wolves

Victor Wembanyama is doing things only three other players have ever done. Wemby went for 39 points, 15 rebounds, and 5 blocks on 72% shooting in San Antonio's 115-108 Game 3 win over Minnesota — joining Hakeem Olajuwon, Shaquille O'Neal, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the only players ever to hit 35+/15+/5+ blocks in a playoff game.

The fourth quarter was the Wemby show. He scored or assisted on 18 of San Antonio's 29 fourth-quarter points, including a stretch where he hit a 3, blocked Anthony Edwards at the rim, and pump-faked Naz Reid into the seventh row in the span of two minutes. Edwards still finished with 32, but Minnesota didn't have an answer for a 7'4 unicorn doing center, wing, and point guard things at the same time.

The Spurs now lead 2-1 with Game 4 tonight in Minneapolis. If Wemby keeps playing like this, San Antonio is two wins from the Western Conference finals — and the league has officially entered its Wemby era.
