WNBA GMs Rank Bueckers Over Clark as Top Franchise Player
The annual WNBA GM survey dropped this week and the franchise-player question had a new answer. Paige Bueckers received 33% of the vote as the player GMs would choose to build a franchise around. Caitlin Clark and A'ja Wilson tied at 20% each, with Breanna Stewart picking up the rest.
A year ago, Clark got 50% of that vote. The drop tells a story. Clark missed 35 of 40 games in 2025 with injury — just 13 appearances. Meanwhile Bueckers averaged 19.2 points, 5.4 assists, and 3.9 rebounds as a rookie and tied the WNBA's single-game scoring record with 44 points. GMs vote on what they've seen.
On MVP, A'ja Wilson dominates with 60% of the vote over Breanna Stewart's 27%. With the new season tipping Friday, Clark and Bueckers meet in their second-ever regular-season game Saturday on ABC at 1 PM ET. Whoever plays better gets the last word.
